Talking about Mises Economics Blog: Krugman v. Walmart

I was reading a blog entry on Mises.org about Walmart, entitiled Krugmasn v. Walmart.  The entry was reviewing a New York Times column that attacks Walmart's claim that it creates jobs.  The column was attempting to show that Walmart destroys more jobs than it creates.

Regardless of your politics there was a JibJab parody recently about Walmart that you should watch.  You can find it here:

Big BoxMart.  Just look for the Big BoxMart movie in the JibJab Classics list.

The supposed extremism of Janice Brown

I found this article on Mises very interesting.  I compares many of the quotes of Janice Brown to some of our founding fathers.  Janice Brown, in case you aren't aware, is the California Supreme Court Justice recently getting through senate filibuster to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, regarded as the nation's second highest court.

Clearing smog has led to 'global brightening'

Start driving your SUVs if you can afford the gas.  We need to counteract this new trend.

According to an article in NewScientist.com, "The efforts of industrialised nations to cut smog pollution has had a bizarre side-effect - accelerating global warming.

New data show that after years of getting smoggier, our skies have become clearer since about 1990. And one effect has been to allow more solar radiation to reach the surface of the Earth."

Does "Intelligent Design" Threaten the Definition of Science?

I came across a very interesting article on National Geographic News about Intelligent Design.

"Where did we come from? It's one of the oldest and most profound questions. Now "intelligent design" theory may change the very definition of science by allowing the supernatural into the lab."

This Intelligent Design (ID) is not meant to be a definite proponent of creationism, but leaves open ended and beyond the theory, the cause or "creator" of the ID.  It mentions that many things in science cannot be explained based on the theory of evolution.  For example, certain things in nature (such as the complex molecular "machines" found in a cell) cannot be explained by evolution.
